Pattern Coins Goldeagle

Pattern Coins goldeagle

A pattern is a coin made by the U.S. Mint as an example or test sample
for a new coin design.

Pattern coins are not intended to be released into circulation. In the past, however, pattern coins were sometimes sold by the U.S. Mint and found their way into
enthusiasts or collectors’ hands.

This practice has now ceased. given that most pattern
coins were minted in very low volumes, they tend to be quite rare and costly to obtain.
